IOI is pleased to share its next release to Infra Finder.

Infra Finder enables you to easily discover open infrastructures that meet your needs, be it for evaluation, procurement, or funding decisions.

Since our Infra Finder launch in April this year and the subsequent publication of the 2024 State of Open Infrastructure Report, we've listened and incorporated feedback to help discoverability of infrastructures that meet your needs.

Expanded filtering

Users can now surface open infrastructures (OIs) by:

  • Open attributes: Find infrastructures that are open source software, that distribute open access content, or are free to use by anyone

  • Business or organizational model: Find open infrastructures based on business or organizational type

  • Hosting options: Find open infrastructures that offer hosting, whether by the infrastructure itself or by a third-party vendor

  • Location: Find open infrastructures based on their registration location

Self-service OI provider data updates so information stays current and verified

Like infrastructure itself, the most significant change to Infra Finder is under the surface. In this release we are introducing a self-service content admin. Individuals from open infrastructures included in Infra Finder can now update data at-will and request review, ensuring the information displayed in Infra Finder is up-to-date and validated.

Next for Infra Finder: An expanded cohort of open infrastructures

In addition to further populating our existing open infrastructure categories, we are currently expanding Infra Finder to include services, protocols, standards, and software tools that are in active use for the analysis and sharing of research data, and for digital preservation and archiving. We're focusing on these two new areas in response to trends and needs that we're seeing within the open science ecosystem — we look forward to further understanding how Infra Finder can help shine a light on open infrastructures that are critical to these spaces.

We want to hear from you

IOI sits at the intersection of a number of stakeholder communities – including funding bodies, libraries, service providers, and the research community, among others.

To make Infra Finder and its data even more useful, we want to hear from you. Please take 5 minutes to fill out our in-app pop-up survey — and share your email at the end of the survey so that we can follow up. We're looking forward to connecting with you!
