The EU Open Source Policy Summit 2023, organized by OpenForum Europe, aims to explore Europe's opportunities when leveraging open-source innovation and collaboration models at scale. Taking place before FOSDEM, it brings together global technology and policy leaders to discuss how collaboration and competition are being rethought as we achieve Europe’s digital policy goals using open source as a strategic tool.
Our Engagement Lead Emmy Tsang is invited to participate in a panel discussion at the Summit titled "What's on the agenda for OSS (open-source software) funders?". Panellists share how and what they fund at their respective organizations and why they think it's important for Europe to invest in OSS. They also discuss the needs and potential pathways for OSS funding.
The panellists are:
- Brian Behlendorf, General Manager, Open Source Security Foundation
- Jean-Luc Dorel, Programme Officer, Next Next Generation Internet, DG CNECT, European Commission
- Govind Shivkumar, Director, Responsible Technology Program, Omidyar Network
- Emmy Tsang, Engagement Lead, Invest in Open Infrastructure
The moderator is Cailean Osborne, researcher at the University of Oxford and the Linux Foundation.
