Our Executive Director Kaitlin Thaney recently presented at the Open and Engaged 2023 Conference, organized by the British Library. The hybrid event's theme aligns with that of this year's Open Access week – community over commercialization – and addressed approaches and practices to open scholarship that prioritize the best interests of the public and the research community.
In her talk, Kaitlin shared IOI's approach to increasing investment in and the adoption of open infrastructure for research and scholarship. Drawing on our research, she highlighted the need and opportunities to strengthen casemaking, to educate stakeholders on open values, to make discovery and due diligence for investments more open, to build relationships across the ecosystem, and to share stories of success to advance advocacy. She also presented the latest on our funding pilots and invited feedback on the approaches.
