You’re invited to a conversation on the accountability and oversight of open infrastructure.

Last summer, we began a research effort to look at collective opportunities to support the open technologies, systems, and people that enable the flow of knowledge and scholarship. This project, Future of Open Scholarship, brought together over 120 institutional leaders, infrastructure providers, library consortia, and advocates for open scholarship. This research effort provided a unique opportunity to work with decision makers navigating a system under extreme duress instigated by the COVID-19 global pandemic.

Over the next few months, IOI will be sharing and building on this work through a series of community conversations. These webinars will explore some of the key findings uncovered in this project as well as discuss the path forward, exploring topics including technical resilience, funding models and investment needs, staffing and maintenance, as well as accountability.

Join us on June 30th for our third conversation titled Ensuring Accountability and Oversight in Open Infrastructure. We’ll hear from experts in the field on how they are working to ensure accountability and oversight of data, technology, and infrastructure in academia, research, and beyond. The conversation will also create space to reflect on the Clarivate Analytics announcement as well as discuss IOI’s call for community participation in response efforts.

We’ll be joined by:

The conversation will be moderated by Vanessa Wrenn Rhinesmith, Executive Director, UCLA Center for Critical Internet Inquiry.
